The lovely apparition

Also known as "The Lady at the Bridge". Every year around Halloween, I read this Appalachian Tale to students. They are mesmerized and ask for it again and again. So far I have found 2 versions of this story. Are there any more that you know of?

Myrddin, A girl is coming home from a dance and is killed in a car accident at an underpass. On the anniversary of her death, she flags down an unsuspecting young man and asks him to take her home. When they arrive at her home, she has disappeared. That's it in a nutshell but of course there's a lot more detail to it like the young man finds his jacket neatly folded up on her grave the next day. Everyone seems to love this legend/story.

Thank you. There are many more equally as good gathered from the Appalachian Mountain Region. Nancy and Bruce Roberts have published several books of these "ghost stories" so to speak and everyone just loves them.
