Snow white & the huntsman

It looks that the new fairytale fad is indeed kicking off. I noticed an ad for Snow White & the Huntsman movie on Facebook today, and, based on the picture on its Facebook page, it looks like the screenwriters are taking some liberties. ;-)

According to Wikipedia, Johnny Depp, Viggo Mortensen, and Hugh Jackman all three declined to play the Woodsman. I guess that tends to happen when you have an actress known for her role as a vampire's teen-lover playing Snow White. Chris Hemsworth, player of the eponymous character from Thor* is slated for the Woodsman.

It sounds... I mean... No words can describe how appalled I am. Snow White is a perfectly good fairy tale, and from what I've read -- thank you, TS -- it sounds as if the end result isn't going to be anywhere near what the story initially was, and likely nothing of a fairy tale. I will refuse to go see it on principle. (Also, part one of three? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?) I think I understand why Johnny Depp and Hugh Jackman turned down the role.

I actually just looked at it on IMDb, and looking down the list of characters it's more disgusting than I initially thought. Neither Caesar, Claudius, or Constantine were ever a part of the fairy tale, and nor should they be -- EVER!

Just read the info on the facebook page; I am disgusted! This looks like a terrible movie, and the fact that Kristen Stewart is in it makes it all the more horrendous!

I just saw the trailer as a leader of a YouTube video, and if it weren't supposed to be based on Snow White and didn't have Kristen Stewart in it (I've never been a fan of hers, and when she was cast in Twilight, her fate was sealed), it might actually be an interesting movie. The footage culled to form the trailer gives the impression that the production is comparable to LOTR (what fantasy/epic warfare movie of the past seven years hasn't made it their ambition to emulate LOTR?), but I don't expect that the trailer is going to save the film from the inevitable poor acting in the dialogue portions I heard.

Thanks for the link! Cameron Diaz looks amazing as always and, I agree, if it weren't for Kristen Stewart I'd be pumped about the movie; I may even be able to get past the fact that it's somehow supposed to be "Snow White". But the trailer was great-all Cameron Diaz. I suppose I'll have to reserve my judgement until the movie comes out.

I vaguely recall seeing the trailer for Snow White and the Huntsmen, but I was not sure what it was really about. I probably will not rush to theatres, to see this movie, but I am sure I will get bored enough someday to watch it.
