She was very wise, compassionate, a devoted wife and mother, and she genuinely loved her fcllowers. She was tricky when it was necessitated by the situation. I think of her as the ultimate woman.

Yes, I agree. After my students analyzed Loki and Hermes we then looked at Isis. I asked them if they thought Isis was a trickster and they had to justify their opinion by sighting evidence that she was or was not. A lot of them said what you said, that she only did it because she had to. Did you read the Contendings of Horus myth where she turns into a Hippo? Pretty weird...

The Contendings of Horus and Set myth is bizarre, to say the least. As a trickster, I think she pales in comparison with my favorite god, Hermes, and she certainly is no Loki. In all other ways, I think she is comparable to the greatest gods and goddesses of any culture.
