Halloween scares

I am trying to write a short story, but need some ideas. So I want to know what would scare you from wanting to open your door to trick or treaters on Halloween night. I've started with the concept of the Black-Eyed Kids, but now am not so sure about going that way. I welcome any input and ideas.

I'm not quite sure what Black-Eyed Kids are? Is that something like the black eyed demons from the TV show Supernatural? Or is it something more like Slender Man?
