Looks like the myth of Daedalus and Icarus.
Daedalus was a famous mythical inventor and builder.
He built the Labyrinth for King Minos of Crete in order to house the Minotaur. But King Minos then kept Daedalus a prisoner on the island so that he would not reveal to any one how to get in and out of the maze.
Daedalus built artificial wings for himself and his son, Icarus, in order to fly off the island. The wings were feathers glued together with wax, and Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too high because the wax would melt with the heat of the sun. However Icarus, in his youthful thrill at flying, forgot his father's warning. He flew too high, the wax melted, and he fell into the sea and was drowned.
