Cú chulainn hair?

I was re-reading Fled Bricrenn (Bricriu's Feast) the other day and I got to wondering. You know the part where Cú Chulainn lifts the fort/castle/whatever and turns it around? And his hair gets sucked back into his skull with the force of his power? Er...what's that about? What's the significance of his hair?

I read that story quite a few years ago.
I believe that when the full "battle fury" is upon Cuchulainn, he undergoes a transformation.
Part of this involves his hair: it stands on end, with a droplet of blood on the end of each strand.
Some authors have also said that some of the ancient celts would, when entering battle, spike their hair using lime: this gave them a fierce appearence.
