In Greek mythology, Keto, a monster sea-goddess, was one of the five children of Pontos (the Sea) and Gaia (the Earth). Keto was married to her own brother the giant sea-god Phorkys, one of the aforementioned five. Together, they were the progenitors of about half of all the monsters you will encounter if youre into Greek mythology. Their most famous children were the Gorgon Medusa and the many-headed water-dragon called the Hydra.

Her design here is inspired by the idea that she is part goddess, part gigantic reptile, part fish, part toxic fume & part graffiti. She reminds me of Raha, the primeval sea-monster poetically mentioned in the Bible (Job 9:13 & 26:12; Psalm 89:10; Isaiah 51:9). Κῆτος (Kētos), the Greek word for whale, derives from this goddesss name, originally denoting [gigantic] marine monster.
