    Lessons in myths

Most teachers in the old Greek society tell these myths as real stories. Do you think it is also a good way to impart lessons in life through myths in our schools today?

How were you introduced to mythology?

My parents bought me Childcraft Set when I was still little. The first book is for stories and myths so that is how I was introduced to myths. I also watched cartoons in those days so that made me love myths.

    What really happened

So going back to our history, do you think that our history could be revised without any prejudices? Every story has two sides to tell and that is what we should try to learn when reading a history. We should also look at both perspectives so that we can really understand what happened.

    Asian and african myth sections

Most of the myths being talked about here are from Europe. From my history lesson, early civilizations were formed in Asia and Africa. I would like to suggest adding section for Asian Myths and another section for African Myths.

    Buried alive

Depends on your culture and where you are located. Some cultures don't embalm their dead and cremate it as soon as possible. Now that will surely keep you dead if were still living when they pronounced you dead.

    What really happened

I have the sequel and I say that it is far better than the first one. I have first bought AC2. I bought AC1 just because I like AC2 that much. RLynn, I believe you are right and that is why a story from a historian should jive with other historical accounts so that it could be considered authentic.

    First dog

I never knew about this myth but it seems like it is based on the relationship of dogs and humans from the start of history. Anywhere in the world, there are dogs and they are always a companion of humans.

choose a side: would u fight 4 the titans or the olympians?

If they had won the war then there won't be any humans. From what I remember on the story, the Olympians are the ones who made humans. Correct me if I'm wrong about this though.

    What really happened

I'm playing Assassin's Creed game and the story is somewhat provocative. Do you believe that history is based on how the writer or historian said it even sometimes it is not what really happened?

    Vikings!

The Vikings are just trying to live their lives in the way they know how. I think the Vikings are given bad images because of the pillaging of towns but if we try to look at the other races in those times then we will see that the Vikings are not different. I guess they are just scarier or...

    Reality vs myth

You got great points Libros. I am with you, myths will remain as myths as long as they are not tested objectively by all parties concerned. The Bigfoot and the Lochness photos are examples of people trying to prove that the myth are real with lies.

    Reality vs myth

There are some things that we can't explain that we normally label it as myth. What if the myth is tried and tested and the conclusion was that it is real? Is it easier to handle truth from myth or is it the other way around?

    Why the resurgence in popularity?

I agree with the notion that the growing popularity of myths is due to movies and TV shows. Even mythbusters is now very famous because of myths. I've read an article before that movies and TV shows reflect the imagination of people. With the help of our technology today, these imagination can...

    Full moon

I could go with this explanation as it is possible. I don't know if the animals also show different characteristics when the moon is full. Personally though, I feel good when there is full moon.

    Demi-gods

I'm also a Christian and if definition is to be followed alone then Jesus is a demi-god per se. As Libros said, Christians can't accept that fact because Jesus is considered to be only god but in a human form. The problem with Christianity is that there are many beliefs even though there is only...

    King arthur

I know about the history of King Arthur based from the movie King Arthur. There are many speculations on the real history of King Arthur but the story itself is good enough to remind us that rulers must be the protector of the people and not the other way around.

    Spirits and ghosts

The thing with ghosts and spirits is that they usually appear when we least expect it. I don't know if the TV shows about ghost hunting is true or not but I guess ghosts won't appear to those who are looking for them. I think there is an explanation to this scientifically but we haven't...

    Spirits and ghosts

I guess this is the longest myth ever told to human race. This is a subjective topic as there are people who believe such things are true and those that are not. I remember when I was little that my aunt would scare me with ghosts so I would behave.

    The nazis and the ocult.

Now I can see why people would conclude that the Nazis followed occult practices because of the different symbolism they used. Still, occult practices or not, what the Nazis had done is really distasteful and inhumane.

    Roman expansion into celtic territory

You are absolutely right. They are more numerous than the Romans but the Romans are more disciplined and they think as one body. The fall of Roman Empire is due to the squabbling of its citizens which divided them, as did with any empire.
