    Animals in the urban legends

Remember the story of the truckers who see the Black Dog? They say if they see the Black Dog, they will soon have a serious accident or get killed. I have also heard a bunch of other dog stories.

    The nazis and the ocult.

Hitler himself was warped in a serious way. The things he condoned in the name of "purity" were things that thinking people should never have gone along with. I personally believe he embrace everything evil in his nature and in the nature of his followers. Not everything in this world is evil...

    Crows

Doves are horrible birds. Everyone thinks they are pretty and coo so nicely. Let me tell you, I had two white doves and they were the hardest birds I have ever dealt with. They pecked, they flew away in the house every chance they got and I could never tame them. On the other hand, a local man...

    Twilight: like it ir not?

No, but of course my daughters have posters, books, graphics on their computers plus clothing with images of *sigh* Jacob and Edward. It's just one of those teen things that have gone viral. I took my daughters to the local premiere at 12 pm at our local theater and there were older people there...

    Where would you go?

I would love to travel all of the time. At one time I had the opportunity because I applied for a position as a tour guide and was accepted. But circumstances decreed that I spend my time at home. So, here I sit. :)

    Pandora's box

Isn't that the truth. I am a bit concerned that Hope was a bit smaller than Disease, War, Envy and Crime too. But if Hope only has a spark, then everything will come around right. :)

    Dream interpretation

I find most of the dreams I remember are dreams in which I seem to work out waking problems. I don't remember many dreams as Amy has said. The ones I do remember seem to be those in which I work the problem out.

    Pan

I know he's not popular but I really like to read about Pan. I love music so it was partly that drew me to him. I like the story of Echo too, very interesting.

    Pandora's box

I love the story of Pandora's box and the last thing to come out of that box. Zeus had a daughter made of clay and sent her to be a wife to Epimetheus, who was a kind but lonely man. Zeus was angry with Epimetheus because Epimetheus' brother gave the world fire without seeking Zeus' permission...

    Disappearing pond

Good story. Native Americans have a sense of humor as well as a long tradition of story telling around the camp fires at night. Sometimes they would add humorous anecdotes to the tale they were telling to "one up" the previous story teller. LOL

    The slaem witch trials

Isn't that the truth! The age of the young ladies who started all of this hoo ha I think had something to do with it. Maybe they were trying to gain sympathy from some of their suitors? IDK but they started one of the saddest chapters of history in the northeast as far as I'm concerned.

    Sheepeaters

In the Yellowstone caldera area there is a legend of a group of Native Americans who lived high in the Rocky Mountains. This tribe was short in stature and were actually considered to be a pygmy people. They eschewed the use of horses and instead used dogs to transport products and carry food...

    Haunted history

Yes, I have. Sites of great tragedy "feel" different to me. There is something there that is unmistakable that I can sense. I have been able to tell friends who have tested me if something tragic happened at a place they have taken me that I had no way of knowing about beforehand.

    Do you believe in forerunners?

Yes, I do. I have a friend who has told me several things to watch out for and it was always something that marked a bad event. She once told me to be careful around ivory colored cars and an old Olds hit me not long after that.

    Immortals movie

It looks pretty good. I'll have to watch for this one to come out. I may even spring to go to the movie theater for this one.

    Breaking mirrors

Remember too, the old mirrors were coated with a thin coat of real silver on the back to make a reflective surface. I'm glad to know the background of the myth though. It certainly does make sense.

Mortality rates go up in july

Has anyone heard the urban legend that says the mortality rate will go up in July in hospitals? It's supposed to be because the new, inexperienced doctors are coming into the hospitals, especially the teaching hospitals? Actually, this one is true. That's when the newbies get thrown out into...

    Satanic backmasking

Ahhhh baloney! That's just a myth. If you listen to any type of speech backward, it sounds Satanic or weird. If that were the case, we wouldn't have DJs. LOL

    History of your area

I know our library has a section on town history and genealogy. The library staff also are very helpful in finding what you need. I think it's wonderful that so much history was preserved.

    Another mirror urban legend

I've never heard that one. There are a lot of superstitions and urban myths about seeing or finding your true love. I don't think that any of them ever work.
