    Bigfoot creatures

I think these might have just be made up stories to keep the kids in line and out of the woods. I never really bought into them myself but it would be pretty amazing if it were somehow true, there are still a few areas in the world we haven't covered up with cement to be found so who knows.

    Santa

Santa Did anyone wait up for Santa when they were a child? I used to every year. I would open up the curtains of my window and watch the sky. Or at least I did that until Santa started to show up on a chartered jet. My dad put repaired and installed radio's on small planes and every year...

    The Tooth Fairy

I'm not sure that I ever really believed in the tooth fairy myself but my parents did the money thing too. I don't remember any stories myself. I just knew when I lost a tooth I was getting a dollar. I know my boys don't believe in the tooth fairy and I'm pretty sure that my daughter knows...

    Dragons

Can you imagine what would happen if they actually found a skeleton/fossil of a dragon. That would be totally insane I would really like to see that, know it won't happen but you can always dream.

    Vampires

That sounds like more of an issue for the department of social services and the police (I know they stink) but I was looking more for the made up version rather than kids doing whatever they can to pass the time.

    Disney vs the true tales

I have read both the versions and I really don't have much of an opinion of either. They are both stories and they both have good points and bad points.

    Roman, Greek, or Norse?

I favor the Greek and Egyptain mythologies a little more than the Norse, but i like all three in general

    Aesop's Fables

You are right I probably did but just never had then announced as being Aesop's Fables rather they were just stories and cartoons that I read. I didn't honestly know about the "Aesop's Fables" being just that until after my children were old enough to learn about them. Many of the saying were...

    The new PC fairy tales

With technology today kids know more things than I ever dreamed of as child, what good is changing the wording of a story going to do to protect them from something that is perceived negative by someone else. When I was little we had three TV channels and maybe four radio channels to choose...

    Aesop's Fables

Aesop's Fables I didn't know anything really about these as a child but when I got older I started to see them with my children and really started to enjoy them and their meanings. Has anyone here read them or seen the shows on television that are based on their teachings?

    The fox in fairy tales

Actually foxes are known for being very cunning and sly creatures so the stories are not too far off. I think that they get a really bad reputation though. I kind of like them. But then again I don't own a chicken coop.

    Vampires

Vampires What do you know about Vampires? I was just reading a book and there are hundreds of them throughout history. It seems like every culture has their own version of vampires and what they do.

    Robin Hood

I think Robin Hood was probably made up stories about good vs. evil that just caught on really well. There may have been real life Robin Hoods here and there but I think most of the stories are probably dramas that someone told around the fire before bedtime.

    The new PC fairy tales

This whole politically correct thing really gets under my nerves. Leave things alone make the new ones all prim and proper but leave the old ones alone. It is just another form of censorship and I can do that for my kids myself if and when they need it. I don't need someone else coming in and...

What is your favorite tale from Greek Mythology?

I think that Panadora's Box is an excellent story and lesson teacher even in todays fast paced world. It is always so important to slow down and take your time instead of being impatient and rushing into things without think through. The world would go more smoothly if more of us did that...

    King Arthur

I think there might have been a King Arthur at one time but I also think that just like Robin Hood his life may have been greatly exagerated (did I spell that right?). Guess that means I believe in Robin Hood too huh, too bad we don't have one of them around now :) .

    Atlantis do you believe?

I actually saw a show that had a real life Atlantis. It was one of the "to be" places years ago for the rich. Anyhow an hurricane came along and when it was all said and done the island was gone. Everyone pretty much forgot about it until some students and their teacher were digging for...

    jack and the beanstalk?

I always thought that it was a fairy tale. It is told in many different variations from different cultures but the story is always the same meaning. I also think it tells an important message that you can achieve great things from little of nothing.

    Dragons

That would be so wild to find proof they existed. But I'm sure they are just one more way that early civizations used stores to explain things that either they couldn't or didn't want to explain otherwise.

    Atlantis do you believe?

It'd be cool to actually have proof that Alantis existed and wasn't something just thought to be a myth. But it does seem hard to believe that an entire land mass could sink under the water, and we'd never find. I think Alantis could exist but if does we aparently don't have the techs to find it.
