The green man

Anyone know the story goes? I remember something about this when I was younger but I can not find any books in the house on the subject. I thought I first read about this in a book as a side story, not the main one of the book too.

I'm not sure of the story that goes with the green man, but the symbol, which is a man's face made from leaves with vines running from them, is a symbol of rebirth or the cyclic nature of the seasons. I would be interested in hearing the story too.

I am wondering more if there are actually any myths that depict the same man but it might be listed under a different name. I have been researching my peepers out on this one and no such luck so far.
