According to biblical myth, men (and, by implication, women) were created only a little lower than the angels. Although I think the existence of angels is highly problematic, I am delighted to be a human being and wish for nothing more exalted. Perhaps I could be a 'hero' in Joseph Campbell's universe.

Surely, I can't be the only want who would choose to be a Greek god... I'd like to be Apollo, since he has the good looks, the artistic talent and the attention of the beautiful girls. I mean, being constantly surrounded by gorgeous nymphs and muses who worship you and dedicate their life to serving you has to be awesome.

Zeus, when he fell in love with a mortal woman, had to turn into animals and rape her (e.g. Leda and the swan)...

I think I'd want to be a Hero(ine). I don't really want to live forever, since forever is a long time. At least if I was a Hero, I would die *hopefully* for a greater cause. Plus, my memory will live on forever, which is almost like living forever, without the agony of living that stretch of time.

I assume we're just talking about Greek myth. I wouldn't want to be any of those.

The Greek gods are incredibly human-like and subject to deception against each other as well as by mortals. Life is not all play and sex and servants, there could be hardship. You could be cheated on, forced to serve mortals, and generally have to be crass to get your way.

The Titans are doomed by their very nature, and most of them are in Tartarus or selectively punished by the gods. To be a Titan is to be predestined to be overthrown or forgotten, no matter how powerful you are. The Titans exist to be evidence of the might of the Olpympians.

The heroes lead incredibly harrowing lives; few of them make it back from their great quests without losing something valuable, often family members, taken vindictively from them at the expense of their heroism. It's a very lonely existence.

The nymphs probably have it easiest, being minor deities of local natural phenomena. Unfortunately there is no male equivalent of a nymph. Satyrs are their counterparts, not their equals, and satyrs are confined to woods and vegetation. I'd rather be a star-nymph, or one of the nymphs who lived in the islands of the far West tending the apples of the Hesperides. But, being a guy, that's not for me.

I'll be happily mortal! In ancient times I might be a priest or an advocate of a particular deity, probably Athena at Athens, or Hermes at Pheneos. Just like now, I'd spend my time teaching people the importance of remembering their stories and influence.

I would be a God. Heros were always men, nymphs always get raped, Titans lose the battle, humanity is always okay, but eternity would be much more fun and eternity with god-powers would be epic! I'm not sure what kind of god I'd be though...a mischevious one I'm sure, Anarchy.

I think I'd want to be a goddess. Since I respect Athena more than many of the others, I think I'd want to be her, although the virginity aspect would be a serious drawback. ;)

LOL.

I think I'd want to be a Titan, specifically Prometheus. The creater of humans and always able to look ahead. He was pretty smart. The drawback, of course, would be being chained to that rock with the eagle coming to eat at my liver every day. But aside from that...
