Voodoo dolls

I purchased a voodoo doll from one of the many little souvenir shops in New Orleans. It comes with a white pin for good and a black pin for bad. I would never want to use it on anyone for evil purposes - what you put out in the universe comes back to you, after all. I was very tempted one day to use the white pin and try to direct the good luck towards myself, but a friend of mine told me that if you try to do it on yourself, the consequences would be very bad. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?

Hm, I don't think I've heard of that, but then I'm not overly familiar with voodoo. Is your friend an actual voodoo practitioner? If she is, then maybe you should listen. If she isn't then I'd get a second opinion from someone who is.

I have heard before that you can't do magic of any kind for personal gain and if you do you get 7x that in bad back. I don't know if it's true but it would make me very wary!

Actually, doing magick is suppose to be to improve your own life. You do have to be careful in your wording as if you do a money spell someone may die in order for you to get the money. I have worked with poppets and generally I use them for magick on others but my opinion is that you could use it for yourself if you wanted. I would however just cast a luck spell instead if it were me. You actually need the other person's permission to do something to them or you are going into a gray or possibly black area. There are many good luck spells out there and I have used numerous ones to help my cousin when she goes to the casino. I have done them for myself and they work fine. Poppets are something you do want to be careful with though.
